Movie Review : Akeelah and The Bee
Written and directed by Doug Atchison,
this movie got many awards. That’s why this got many positive reviews. Not only
tells about the discrimination, it also gives us a lot of moral values.
Akeelah and The Bee is about akeelah anderson,
a bright 11-year-old girl who studies in a black school in South Los Angeles.
Because of her great ability in spelling, she is encouraged by her school to
join the regional spelling bee contest. Firstly, Akeelah refuses to join, but
because of her condition she finally get the chance to go to the higher grade
of the contest. By help of Dr. Larabee, her coach, Akeelah get a lot of
valuables experience she never expected. She also change her attitude during
the studying time with him. She learns that everything could be achieved if she
always believes in her ability and never afraid to get the things she wants.
Even got many obstruction from her families, she can handle the problem and makes better situation than before. And after passed the hard time, by support of her mother, brother, friends, and her coach, she made the final become the precious thing that she can give to all people who always support her.
Keke Palmer’s (Akeelah anderson) ability in
acting make the spectator get involved in her emotion. She really gives the
best in becoming the main role. It makes the movie become very interesting.
Not only interesting, but this movie also
gives us a lot of moral values. Akeelah Anderson, as an African American girl
participation in National Bee Contest teach us that everyone should get the
same right in all aspect of the life. It also teachs us to believe in our
ability so we can achieve all of our dreams.
Inspite of the positive critics, some people
was not satisfied with the plot and the action of the child. They assure that
they can guess how was the ending and they do not agree about the romantic
scene between Akeelah and Javier. But there are still many people who can enjoy
the plot till the ending.
To sum up, Akeelah and the Bee is one of the
best movie that not only gives us the good story but also the moral values for
everyone in the world.
